While reading the bible a question always arises: what is the purpose of the bible? For what reasons God has to reveal, write and preserve the bible. This is a common question for many people. the one who has read the bible can confidently answer this question. But it could be difficult for the ones who are not familiar with the words of the bible. 

Imagine a person who is a common person with no knowledge. Can he be able to do the right things or recognize God? If he doesn’t know then definitely he can’t do it. That’s why God needs to give us the knowledge of the bible. By reading the bible a person can recognize God that who is He? What’s His purpose? Why did he create us and the universe?

Exodus 34:6-7

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. The Bible has a complete knowledge and helps us to differentiate between right and wrong. A person with no knowledge can do many wrong things but the one who has the knowledge will know the boundaries and will never do wrong things.

Gaining Knowledge of the bible is compulsory for every believer so that they remain holy by avoiding wrong things. So, the purpose of Bible is to teach people about right and avoid the wrong

A person can do good and bad things even a believer can also do wrong. World is a combination of good and bad. The Bible teaches us what we should do and what to avoid but there are  evils and Satan who force a person to do bad things. 

That’s why the bible also teaches us that there are many ways to protect ourselves and get salvation. It is written in the Bible that if we do wrong things but after realization we ask forgiveness from God then we’ll become pious again and get salvation. 

Do you guys know the world before Jesus was full of sins but after Jesus arrival and his blood we got salvation. So, Jesus is our way of salvation and happiness.

Purpose of Bible to Give Guide & Wisdom

A person can’t be wise and fully guided after birth. He has to live, read books, gain knowledge and practice things. By the passage of time he can be a guided and wise person. But there is a turn, if a person lives his life on a good path that he could be able to be pious. 

But if he walks on the wrong path then he will never be a wise or good person. A person’s intellect and goodness based on which type of knowledge he has gained. So, if a person reads the Bible then he will be able to get wisdom, good knowledge and practice a good life.

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Protection From Sins And Adopting Repentance

The big purpose of God due to which he revealed the bible is to give knowledge to people so that they can avoid sins and remain pious. The holy book is powerful and if a person gets this power then he can remain protected from sins. As a human nature he is always attracted towards sins. 

This natural attraction is due to the presence of Satan and God also built human nature in this way so that he can test his servants. The bible gives us knowledge to tackle the situation if a person commits sins. It is clearly mentioned to avoid sins but if somebody did this then they can choose repentance. 

After repentance God will forgive him and again make him pious. Repentance is basically asking forgiveness from God for the sins we commit. And we all know God is merciful and forgiving. Thus the holy book teaches us the good things, avoiding sins and to ask repentance from God if we did something wrong.

Purpose of Giving Hope

A part of human nature is that he gets hopeless very easily. So God has sent us the Bible to give us hope and peace. In The holy book God has told us that he will give us blessings, new heaven and earth, hope for the best future, eternal life, forgiveness, love, mercy and many more. 

By reading this a person gets hope that if he tries to become a good person then he will be rewarded. The Bible is full of instructions, knowledge, wisdom, peace and hope.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

A Power For Believers to do Right

To do the right things a person has to know what is right and what is wrong. This difference is well defined and explained in the bible. But it is true that to walk on the straight path a person needs strength, power and courage. And our holy book gives us this power to do right things, fight with evils and get God’s nearness.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Titus 2:11-14

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Giving Knowledge Regarding Love And Humanity

The Bible gives us knowledge to spread love and humanity. A society gets destroyed if it has no love and humanity. God is all loving, forgiving and merciful and he wanted from us to also be loving, forgiving, good, compassionate, just and polite. All believers are loving and have humanity. That’s why they never did bad for others which leads to a society having a beautiful environment.

1 John 4:7-8

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

A Message Regarding Christ Returning

We love Jesus so much and when we remember the time when he was killed it shakes our soul. For a believer the brutal behavior for Jesus is very heartbreaking. He was so loving that he became a source of our salvation by his blood. 

But the bible uncovers a secret that Jesus is in heaven but a time will come that he will be present among us. Near the end of the world Jesus will come and conquer against evils. 

This news is very important for believers. That’s why the bible is very important to read, practice and believe. And a person who believes in it and practices it will be successful in the world and hereafter.

Purpose to Reveal God’s Plan

Who knows God’s plans? This is a question which is of great importance. A person can’t know what God wants and what he will do until God tells him. God is powerful and the owner of this universe has many plans. Surprisingly he has shared these plans with us.

And the one who reads the Bible knows what are the plans of God. We are not born just to eat, live, reproduce and to die but we are here for a reason. These reasons and plans are uncovered by the Bible. That’s why a person should read it so that he can live his life and do things according to God’s wants.

Ephesians 1:9-10

He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

Revelation 21:1-4

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. Conclusion

The answer to the question: what is the purpose of the bible? Is to reveal us God’s identity, his will, messages, orders, love and plans. Without the presence of a holy book a person can’t find the truth. 

This book helps us to choose the right path and to do good things. Without the bible a person is like a kite without thread. As thread helps the kite to fly in a direction and without the thread it goes distracted. 

This Holy book gives us a message of salvation, forgiveness, love, justice, mercy, compassion, peace, hope, politeness, avoiding bad, doing good, will of God, coming of Jesus, eternal life and many other things.
