What’s Tongue Can Do?
Tongue is a very powerful organ in our body. It is a source to speak and taste food. We can’t taste anything without it and can’t speak a single word without it. It is a great blessing of God. Along with God giving the blessing of tongues it also has many weak points.
As we can easily speak and communicate our messages but what if we start to misuse it. Yes! Tongue is an organ which we have to use accurately. Any wrong action can bring a lot of discomfort in our and other’s lives.
According to me, a tongue can display a man’s character and nature in a minute. I wanted to share an example. I was sitting on a beach and a man sat beside me. He was looking very nice, beautiful and respectful person. After some time I tried to communicate with him.
When I got success in it then after 2 minutes of talking I realized that he is a ugly person because I judge him by his tongue . So it’s my point of view that if we want to check a person we should talk with him. His sense of speaking and words of tongue can tell us the whole game.
Proverbs 21:23
Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.
Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
1 Peter 3:10
For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

Truth Speaking From Tongue
God gifted us with a beautiful instrument of speaking, I mean tongue. So, it’s our duty to speak truth and avoid lying. As when we learn religion we can understand how important it is for a man to speak truth and avoid lying. Lies can destroy a society. It’s against the humanity that people start to tell lies instead of speaking truth. Imagine a world with no lies but truth. What will you see? I am sure that we’ll see a world full of happiness, equality, love, justice, no quarrels, friendships, peace and like paradise. Speaking the truth has a great impact on one’s life along with society. So, we should Thank God for this blessing by speaking truth.
Exodus 20:16
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Psalm 34:13
keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.
Power of Tongue And Speaking
As I mentioned earlier, tongues have a lot of power. It can heal or tear a person. Tongue is like a sharp sword if we use it in the wrong way. A bad word can hurt a person more than a sharp sword. Have you ever experienced such a thing? I had faced it. I was in love with someone and I believe that he will be my protector and strength. I was expecting him to be a beautiful person with a tongue like honey. But I was totally wrong.
He used to say words which hurt me so much. His words are like a sharp sword which hurts deep injuries in my heart. Whenever I remember his words my eyes always start to fell tears. Not only my eyes but my heart also starts to cry. I can’t tell my pain and my feelings. How can I share this pain in words? Ahhh! It’s a terrible story by the way. But my point is that a tongue can heal us and also tear us into pieces. So I advise you that wherever the circumstances are we should always use words wisely.
Psalm 141:3
Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Proverbs 15:1-2
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
James 1:19-26
.My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

Psalm 19:14
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Avoid Using Tongue in a Bad Way
Lies can be very harmful for society. It creates an environment of injustice, pain and stress. I will give an example so that you guys can understand it deeply. A person who is righteous was blamed by a person who is clever. Their matter was brought to a court. There is only a person who can save the righteous person. But the clever person gave him some money to tell a lie.
When they were in court then this person spoke lies instead of truth and due to this lie the righteous person got prisoned but the clever person was ready to betray others. It would be a very terrible situation . Right! So, it’s a great need for us, our homes and for societies that we always speak truth instead of lies.
Colossians 3:8
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue.
It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying, “Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others! As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.
Like a coating of silver dross on earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart. Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit. Though their speech is charming, do not believe them, for seven abominations fill their hearts. Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them. A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.
