Adultery is an unethical act which is not allowed in Christianity. Adultery is not just having physical relationships with others instead of spouses but it is also of many types.

Adultery is not just bad for our health or life but it is also a great sin. God doesn’t like those who did these unethical things. God has strictly prohibited us to avoid adultery and should remain pious and always walk on a straight path.

Warnings of Bible Regarding Adultery

God has warned us regarding adultery in the bible. God has clearly mentioned that a person should remain holy. But if he chooses the wrong directions then he will be punished badly.

God never allows us to do this adultery; it may be physical or spiritual. Doing adultery has many effects on our worldly and hereafter’s life. If we indulge in this act then firstly God will become angry with us. Secondly, our health will be ruined. Thirdly we’ll become weak in our faith. Fourthly our both lives will be destroyed. 

Imaging these scenes will shake our soul that just doing adultery will completely destroy us. It’s our good luck that God has told us its outcomes earlier. God has sent Jesus, many books and prophets just to tell what we are allowed to do and which are prohibited. I think it’s a great mercy from God that he already tells us the disastrous outcomes. It can be unfair if he keeps us unaware of these consequences. 

Leviticus 20:10

Disastrous Results of Adultery

Here we’ll discuss in detail that what would be the effects of adultery on one’s and others’ lives or society.

Imagine a person who did adultery. What would you expect from his life? Surely he will lose his health and will become ill. He will also destroy others’ lives with whom he is doing this act. If he is married then his wife’s life will also be affected. The adulterous woman if have a husband then her husband’s life will also be destroyed. 

Collectively the act of one person can affect the whole society and his life will be destroyed. We all know that God hates this act so if he did this God will become angry with him. And I think it’s the most heartbreaking thing that our God will become angry. Isn’t it?  

Thirdly, He will destroy his hereafter life along with the worldly life because God has told us if we do things which he prohibited then he will surely punish us. But if we already did this then we should repent God and start to live a holy life.

Deuteronomy 22:22

If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

Adultery of the Heart And Other Things

Adultery is not just doing a sexual act with another person physically but it can be done by thinking and seeing. Now this is a very critical fact. By reading the bible i have come to know that seeing a woman lustfully is also a sin. It is also considered adultery.

 If we get attracted to a person who is not our spouse and we can’t afford to reach her/him and we start thinking dirty in our heart (i hope you will get what i am saying) then it will be considered a big sin. Similarly if we just see her/him lustfully means if we can’t be tough but see with getting full pleasure then remember we are doing a sin which is called adultery and is highly disliked by God.

Ephesians 5:5

For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

John 8:10-11

Different Ways of Adultery

According to the Bible, if a person did a sexual act with a woman other than spouse did sin. Not only this but also leaving one’s wife without a reason is also adultery. Similarly for a woman who left her husband without any reason.

On the other hand, if an unmarried person gets married to a woman who had left her husband without any reason, it is also a case of adultery. All of these instructions and rules are mentioned in bible verses. Thus it is compulsory for a person to read the bible so that he can know about God’s orders and teachings.

Avoiding Adultery And Its Solution

These bible verses give a clear message regarding that sinful act so that we can avoid it and remain pious. The Bible tells us the solution to all issues. It tells us that if we are young and never did adultery but there is a chance that we can attract towards it. At that stage if we start to read the bible we can remain protected. Thus we should incorporate bible learning in our life from childhood so that we can remain protected from all issues.

The second stage is different. If we are young or old with no bible knowledge and are caught by sins like adultery then what to do? The simple solution is that we should repent from God and to start to live our life according to God’s order by reading and understanding the Bible.

Romans 7:2-3
